Pharmaceutical Flooring

Pharmaceutical flooring, where sanitation, safety, and professional installation practices make all the difference, require industry specific solutions. High Performance Systems has the experience and professionalism needed to accommodate these facility’s needs.

Our highly trained staff can design custom trench drains that alleviate safety concerns in sensitive environments. Properly installing rounded cove base to eliminate 90 degree corners contributes to creating and maintaining a bacteria free, low maintenance space. Applying an anti-slip texture with state of the art materials including, resinous epoxy, urethane cement, methyl methacrylates (MMA), and quartz epoxy flooring provides your staff with a safe and practical work place.

Pharmaceutical Flooring Requirements

When a sterile working environment is necessary, pharmaceutical flooring is an excellent way to preserve a clean and safe work space. Standards are determined by the Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP), and are focused on promoting a clean and sterile working environment. The CGMP requires that pharmaceutical manufacturing flooring must be coated with an epoxy that is thick enough to provide a protective barrier against pollutants, chemicals, and contaminants that could potentially penetrate the concrete’s surface. Generally speaking, these coatings are made from a thermal cured chemistry. This base can be further altered by different combinations of mortar materials, which provides rigidity and durability.

Other requirements of pharmaceutical flooring are that it must be completely seamless and cover a room’s floor space from wall-to-wall. These design features are implemented to eliminate the settling of dust, chemicals, and debris in the cracks and crevices of the floor.
Whereas conventional types of flooring have a tendency to accumulate dust and pollutants over the course of a workday, pharmaceutical flooring helps reduce the risk and safety hazards of an untidy workspace.

This type of system features a fluid, anti-slick surface that minimizes workplace injury by cutting down on the slips and falls that inevitably arise because of wet flooring. And because pharmacists often work with volatile materials, pharmaceutical manufacturing flooring is chemically resistant and anti-static, meaningthatyoucanhandleelectrically-charged materials and dangerous chemicals without fear of injury.

Applications of Pharmaceutical Flooring

Pharmaceutical flooring is most commonly found in pharmaceutical research laboratories and pill manufacturing facilities. Because pharmaceutical flooring is also anti-bacterial, completely hygienic, and thermally resistant, the flooring is sometimes installed in chemical storage facilities, locker rooms, paper plants, and bottling facilities. The flooring is also frequently used in quality control centers, artisan workshops, public bathrooms, packaging centers, and underneath assembly lines

Pharmaceutical manufacturing flooring is also capable of withstanding rapid temperature changes and variable temperature environments. This is necessary to produce some of the most advanced medications on the market which need to be both frozen and heated during the manufacturing process. >
