Warehouse Flooring Considerations

Warehouse flooring requirements vary greatly depending on their use. Designing and installing a solid warehouse flooring system depends on a number of things. One of the most important things to assess is the type of traffic the flooring will be subjected to. Will there only be foot traffic and hand carts or will there also be heavy forklift traffic? You will also want to consider how many hours your warehouse floor will be in service in a given day or week. Another important aspect to consider is what is being stored or warehoused. Other considerations include determining if your warehouse flooring will be exposed to water or if it will remain dry? How heavy is the typical weight load? What type of tires are being mounted on your truck equipment? (blonde tires tend to minimize any skid marks versus the more often used solid black rubber tires). Furthermore, there are often chemical exposures to be considered, for instance you would typically want to treat the battery charging area with a novolac epoxy system that resists the acid exposure you might typically see in that environment.

Hire A Warehouse Flooring Professional

Allow High Performance Systems to review your circumstances and recommend the ideal warehouse flooring system to meet your needs. We can often exceed your requirements at a price point you can handle. There are many warehouse flooring options and choices for your consideration. You may opt for something as simple as polished concrete or you may want to dust proof your warehouse with an epoxy or urethane sealer. If you really want to protect and extend the life of your concrete you might move up to a more substantial slurry or polymer mortar system which are typically used around the loading dock area.

Many companies are tempted to hire a local painter to coat their floors because at first glance it seems to be the most cost effective. Frankly, the products used and the lack of experience in concrete floor coatings generally leads to a flooring failure and short lived solution. The money you initially save is minimal compared to the cost of additional downtime from constant re-coating or the cost of removing the faulty coating and having it done properly.
