Urethane Flooring NJ

Project Overview: Urethane Flooring Installation for a Commercial Kitchen

Existing Conditions: The tile on the existing kitchen floor was cracked throughout the entire area due to years of abuse and neglect. Our client was tired of looking at dirty grout lines and wanted a more durable flooring system that would be easier to keep clean. We specified a urethane flooring system for a project located in New Jersey.

Preparation of existing condition: The first phase of the prep involved mechanically abrading the substrate using diamond grinders to remove all laitance and achieve a mechanical profile. Once the grinding was complete we sound tested existing brick and removed all loose substrate we encountered. Once all of the problem areas were identified we filled all tile voids as well as the ones created by mortise joint using a Fastop Slurry using to ensure we had a smooth surface.

Products Installed: We began the installation by priming the cove with GP 3579 anywhere cove was to be installed. Once the walls were primed we installed our radial cove base using a 100% solids epoxy mortar. Once all of the coves was up and the tape line removed we began the application of our System Basecoat; comprised of SW Fastop SL cementitious urethane slurry. Once the slurry was down we broadcast to rejection using flint shot to create anti-slip flooring. After giving the slurry two hours to cure we swept away any excess broadcast and stoned the floor to ensure an even texture. Finally, we were ready to apply System Topcoat; SW 4850 Polyaspartic topcoat

Conclusion: In order to provide a flooring system that would work for a kitchen in such a high traffic area we really had to do our research. Working hand in hand with our material provider we were able to zero in on epoxies that could hold up against chemicals but also withstand greases. oils and fats to ensure neither area would fail.
